Chrandal Creek Fire:
Current size: Estimated at 1,300 acres
Containment: 0%
Yesterdays Activity: Crews continued to work at cutting brush along roads. Worked continued on lines on south and west flanks of fire. A crew assessed escape routes and safety zones on south flank of the fire.
Todays Weather and Planned Activity: Temperatures 80-90 degrees, relative humidity 13% - 23%. Winds light up to 5 mph. These conditions and dry fuels could contribute to increased fire activity. Some isolated group/single tree torching as well as backing/creeping fire in some areas.
Shawn Pearson’s Type 2 Incident Management Team assumed command at 6 a.m. today.
Operations will focus on determining the best points to engage the fire with line construction on the south flank. Progress will be slow due to the steep country.

Special Concerns: The fire is burning in steep, rugged terrain mostly lodgepole and sub-alpine fir timber.
