The Lemhi County Forest Restoration Group is meeting Tues, Feb 7 at the Salmon-Challis National Forest Supervisor’s Office conference room from 3 – 6 p.m. The Forest Restoration Group has invited the Salmon-Challis to provide an update on the Upper North Fork ecosystem restoration project. The Forest Service and members of the forestry collaborative began looking at ecosystem restoration and community wildfire protection issues in the area between Lost Trail Pass and the Hughes Creek project area in 2009. The Forest Service initiated public scoping under the National Environmental Policy Act in August 2011 and are continuing to work on the Environmental Impact Statement. For more information about Upper North Fork, visit http://www.fs.fed.us/nepa/fs-usda-pop.php/?project=33793
Collaborative members are hoping to find out where the Forest Service is in terms of putting forward a range of alternatives, timelines, and other issues.
The collaborative group has requested the meeting be at the Supervisor’s Office to be able to link distant members by the Forest Service’s videoteleconference system. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
